Team Lead, Management Consultation

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential mental health services organization in their search for a Team Lead, Management Consultation. This is a unique leadership role that blends direct clinical work with operational oversight and team development. The ideal candidate will maintain a small caseload while serving as a subject matter expert, training resource, and operational coordinator for a fast-paced clinical team.

This position requires an independently licensed mental health professional who thrives in dynamic environments and can balance clinical judgment with process management. You'll support complex case consultations, manage team workflows, and serve as a key liaison for customer escalations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clinical caseload representing approximately 10–20% of working hours, with volume adjusted based on case complexity and team capacity
• Own and maintain tracking of team operations, workflows, and project timelines within project management systems
• Develop and deliver ongoing training on management referral processes and workflows to support customer leadership needs
• Serve as subject matter expert for customer-specific operations, monitoring communication channels and supporting high-touch, escalated, and crisis situations
• Provide clinical and technical consultation for complex or escalated cases, supporting the team on clinical judgment and risk considerations
• Coordinate daily operational flow by assigning cases based on volume, complexity, and risk while ensuring timely outreach aligned with service level agreements
• Create and maintain daily and weekly schedules, making real-time adjustments as operational needs change
• Monitor multiple system views including queue activity, case assignment, caseload balancing, and task tracking
• Update workflows and standard operating procedures in response to program changes and team feedback
• Support team development through training, competency sign-offs, and regular office hours
• Partner cross-functionally to troubleshoot operational and clinical issues and drive continuous improvement
• Serve as primary point of contact for the team in manager absence and facilitate team meetings as needed

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Independent clinical licensure: LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent state licensure
• 3+ years of Employee Assistance Program (EAP) experience
• Minimum 1 year of management consultation experience
• Strong understanding of Substance Use Disorders (SUD) and Levels of Care (LOC)
• Knowledge of best practices for navigating substance use in workplace settings
• Highly comfortable adopting new technologies and learning new systems
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Proven ability to multi-task in fast-paced environments
• Collaborative, solution-focused approach to problem-solving
• Willingness to serve as a subject matter expert and proactively seek information

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous leadership experience
• Proficiency with Smartsheet and project tracking tools
• CEAP (Certified Employee Assistance Professional) certification
• SAP (Substance Abuse Professional) qualification

Success Metrics:

• Effectively balance personal caseload and queue management to adapt to shifting volumes
• Ensure seamless adoption of workflows through high-quality training and accurate tracking
• Meet established service level agreements for timely responses
• Consistently achieve quality review targets for individual and team performance
• Maintain customer satisfaction score targets
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation and case management
