Security Software Engineer, Vulnerability Operations

About This Opportunity

Our client, a confidential technology organization, is seeking a Security Software Engineer to join their Vulnerability Operations team. In this role, you'll help operate and improve an AI-powered vulnerability operations platform that scans repositories and live web applications, then unifies, verifies, and routes findings to engineering teams. You'll join a small, fast-moving team with real production responsibilities from day one.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day operations of the vulnerability management hub and AI scanning engines by monitoring scan fleets and worker queues, investigating stuck or failed scans, and shipping fixes
• Build and maintain features across the full stack including Python/FastAPI backend services, React/TypeScript frontends, and Postgres data models
• Triage platform feedback from security engineers and repository owners by reproducing bugs, running data reconciliations in SQL, and closing the loop with users
• Operate GitOps deployment pipelines using Kubernetes/OpenShift, ArgoCD, and Vault—shipping releases to staging and production, rotating secrets, and validating rollouts
• Improve scan coverage and data quality through asset inventory management, ownership attribution, and finding lifecycle and deduplication logic
• Work alongside senior engineers on LLM agent harnesses that power scanning and verification capabilities

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• 1–3 years of software engineering experience (internships count) with solid Python fundamentals
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
• Comfort in a Linux/Git environment and willingness to debug across unfamiliar systems
• Interest in security—you don't need to be a security expert yet, but should want to become one
• Strong ownership instincts with the ability to follow problems to root cause and communicate clearly

Preferred Qualifications:

• Frontend experience with React and TypeScript
• Exposure to containers and orchestration tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, or ArgoCD/GitOps
• Experience with job-queue/worker architectures like Redis or Celery/ARQ
• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, agent frameworks, or coding agents
• Security fundamentals demonstrated through CTF participation, security coursework, bug bounty writeups, or certifications like Security+ or eJPT
• Contributions to open-source projects or a portfolio of shipped side projects
