About the Role
This full-time position combines classroom instruction in physical education with coaching duties for the girls track and field and cross country programs. You'll design learning experiences that develop students' physical competence, health awareness, and athletic potential while cultivating the character that sports builds.
What You'll Do
- Deliver standards-aligned PE curriculum emphasizing fitness, motor skills, and health-conscious decision making
- Coach girls track and field athletes in practice, technique development, and competitive meets
- Direct girls cross country programming including training regimens and race strategy
- Create inclusive classroom and team environments where every student experiences growth and belonging
- Develop athletic conditioning and injury prevention protocols aligned with best practices
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction to support diverse abilities and learning styles
- Build strong partnerships with families and colleagues to reinforce student success both in and out of competition
What We're Looking For
- Valid Texas Physical Education teaching credential
- Proven experience coaching track, cross country, or comparable athletic programs
- Deep understanding of distance running training, track and field fundamentals, and sports conditioning
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and develop young athletes at the high school level
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Commitment to student achievement and athletic integrity
