Systems Engineer

The-swift-group is hiring a Systems Engineer in Annapolis Junction, United States for our full-time, mission-critical operations program. You'll architect the system requirements and specifications that ensure complex technical solutions meet operational objectives.

Position Summary

At The-swift-group, Systems Engineers translate stakeholder needs into precise, verifiable system specifications and architectures. You'll analyze operational requirements, develop detailed system specifications, and guide cross-disciplinary technical teams through the system lifecycle—from concept definition through integration and testing.

What You'll Do

• Author systems engineering documentation including system plans, capability documents, requirements specifications, and interface control documents
• Manage system and derived requirements using DoDAF and service-oriented architecture frameworks to ensure production system alignment
• Develop system, functional, and performance requirements with allocation to hardware, software, facilities, and personnel components
• Lead coordination of configuration control board actions, design reviews, and cross-discipline resolution of requirements issues
• Participate in integrated product teams to define new capabilities through systematic evaluation of technical and operational considerations
• Define system interfaces and changes to configurations between subsystems throughout the development lifecycle
• Establish performance and error budgets for systems and subsystems to meet real-time operational constraints
• Derive lower-level component requirements from system-level specifications, ensuring completeness, correctness, uniqueness, and verifiability
• Generate and evaluate alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions
• Establish system and component baselines for hardware and software development teams
• Define verification methods and evaluation criteria for validating systems against requirements
• Develop system designs satisfying all requirements and functional analysis outcomes
• Specify information assurance requirements covering confidentiality, integrity, availability, and appropriate security mechanisms
• Review work breakdown structures, work packages, and integrated master plans

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline (alternatively, 5+ years of systems engineering experience)
• Professional experience as a Systems Engineer in programs of comparable scope and complexity:
  • Level 1: 7+ years
  • Level 2: 14+ years
  • Level 3: 20+ years
• Current government security clearance, background investigation, and polygraph required
