System Administrator (Web Hosting)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential logistics organization seeking a System Administrator to join their team in Eschborn. In this role, you will:

• Administer Linux and MS Windows based servers and services, ensuring optimal performance and availability
• Install and configure web applications, database servers, and customer-specific applications
• Provide 1st, 2nd, and 3rd level support for server infrastructure, web applications, and databases
• Monitor, analyze, and report on performance metrics and capacity of the server infrastructure
• Build, manage, and optimize containerized environments using Docker
• Automate configuration management, deployment, and orchestration using Ansible
• Set up and administer Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MSSQL databases
• Implement and maintain security protocols in strict accordance with internal guidelines
• Execute backup operations, including monitoring, failure resolution, and restore testing validation
• Perform OS patching, firmware updates, and system upgrades according to established schedules
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and operational procedures
• Ensure timely service restoration and effective communication during incident management

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring:

• Completed degree in computer science or comparable qualification
• 7-10 years of professional experience as a system administrator
• Strong expertise with web stack technologies including HTTP, web servers, reverse proxy, and load balancing
• Deep understanding of OS-level security for both Linux and Windows environments
• Proficiency with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, MS Azure, Google Cloud, or OCI
• Very good knowledge of at least one operating system: RHEL, MS Windows Server, Docker, and Ansible
• Solid administration experience with at least one database system: MSSQL, MariaDB/MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle DB
• Good knowledge of VMware vSphere and shared storage systems
• Working knowledge of DNS, LDAP, Active Directory, Remote Services, and SSH
• Experience in automation and scripting
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Good understanding of network fundamentals including TCP/IP, routing, subnetting, DNS, and firewalls
• Excellent English language skills (spoken and written); German is desirable
• Ability to work effectively in an international, multicultural environment
• Team-oriented mindset with structured working approach
• Valid work authorization for Germany (visa sponsorship not available)
