Supplier Quality Engineer, BotQ

Figure, an AI robotics company building general-purpose humanoid robots, is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer in San Jose, CA. You'll take ownership of supplier relationships and quality standards as we scale manufacturing for Figure 02, our advanced humanoid robot designed for commercial applications and residential use. This full-time position requires five days per week of in-office collaboration at our San Jose headquarters.

About This Position

As a Supplier Quality Engineer at Figure, you'll serve as the bridge between product engineering and our network of manufacturing partners, ensuring every component meets the rigorous standards our robots demand. Your mechanical engineering expertise and supplier management background will directly shape the quality and reliability of our products in commercial and home settings. You'll evaluate and onboard vendors, architect quality frameworks, and drive continuous improvement across our supply chain while collaborating with partners who specialize in injection molding, die casting, stamping, wire harness assembly, and textile fabrication.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and qualify new suppliers, then establish tailored quality plans aligned with their manufacturing capabilities
• Track supplier performance against quality metrics and champion improvement initiatives that meet or exceed targets
• Review vendor design-for-manufacturability documentation and inspection procedures, providing actionable feedback
• Analyze first article inspection reports to validate that production output matches design specifications
• Collaborate with suppliers to diagnose quality issues, conduct root cause investigations, and implement corrective actions
• Review supplier process documentation prior to production launch and identify opportunities for enhancement
• Manage quality oversight across multiple manufacturing methods: injection molding, die casting, stamping, wire harness assembly, and textile work

Requirements

• Strong foundation in manufacturing processes, quality management systems, and industrial engineering principles
• Hands-on experience with process validation, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement frameworks
• Advanced proficiency in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
• Experience evaluating and refining supplier process plans before production
• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time to supplier facilities and partner locations

Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, biomechanical engineering, robotics, mechatronics, or related disciplines; four or more years of manufacturing engineering experience; expertise with CATIA V6 or similar CAD tools; and background in robotics or advanced technology manufacturing.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $150,000 to $250,000, based on experience and qualifications. Additional compensation components and benefits may be provided as part of the complete package for selected candidates.
