The Opportunity

As Supervisor of Accreditation (Personnel Security Screening), you'll direct the personnel security screening program that manages access to parliamentary facilities. You'll lead a dedicated team through the complete vetting lifecycle—from application intake through adjudication—ensuring compliance with federal security standards and Treasury Board requirements. Working at the intersection of security operations, legislative protection, and institutional governance, you'll make decisions that directly safeguard Canada's democratic institutions whilst maintaining fair and transparent processes for every applicant.

Your Responsibilities

  • Manage daily programme operations including application processing, background investigation coordination, and clearance adjudication
  • Supervise and mentor security screening staff, setting performance expectations and supporting professional growth
  • Conduct applicant interviews and oversee investigations, ensuring rigorous assessment whilst respecting procedural fairness
  • Partner with federal agencies and law enforcement to verify information and obtain necessary security references
  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with privacy legislation and federal access controls
  • Make final clearance determinations based on investigation findings and policy guidelines
  • Develop operational procedures, training materials, and quality standards for the accreditation team
  • Track programme metrics and report staffing, workload, and security trends to senior leadership

Qualifications

  • Proven experience supervising or leading teams in security, human resources, or government settings
  • Familiarity with Canadian security clearance levels, federal vetting standards, and Treasury Board directives
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to fairly assess complex personal and background information
  • Fluent English communication; French language skills valued
  • Willingness to develop specialised knowledge in federal accreditation and personnel security screening
  • Valid Canadian driver's licence (as required for the role)
  • Eligibility to obtain Secret or Top Secret security clearance
