Staff Security Engineer

Topaz Labs is seeking a Staff Security Engineer to join our team in Dallas, Texas. This is a full-time opportunity to lead security initiatives at a rapidly expanding AI company trusted by millions of creative professionals worldwide, including teams at Apple, Netflix, NASA, and Disney.

About the Role

You'll drive our security strategy and implementation as our platform grows. Reporting to our technical leadership, you'll own critical security initiatives across infrastructure, applications, and data protection—working to integrate security into every phase of our development process. This is a hands-on position where you balance strategic direction with technical execution, setting standards across the organization.

What You'll Do

• Design and oversee security architecture for cloud infrastructure, APIs, and backend systems processing millions of user images
• Lead threat modeling and security reviews for new features, platforms, and technologies
• Establish secure development practices, incident response procedures, and compliance frameworks
• Mentor engineering teams to foster security awareness and best practices
• Conduct security assessments, penetration testing, and manage vulnerability remediation
• Partner with infrastructure and platform teams to implement and maintain security controls
• Stay informed on emerging threats and security trends affecting AI and image processing platforms

What We're Looking For

• Substantial experience in security engineering with demonstrated expertise in a staff or senior-level role
• Deep knowledge of cloud security, application security, and secure software development practices
• Proven success designing and implementing security controls at scale
• Strong understanding of threat modeling, risk assessment, and security compliance
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code, containerization, and CI/CD security
• Excellent communication skills—comfortable translating technical security concepts for diverse audiences
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
