Staff Data Scientist

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential medical device organization that is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to join their product development analytics team. This is a remote position available across the United States, offering the opportunity to work on health sensing technology that directly impacts patient outcomes and quality of life.

Our client collaborates across firmware, hardware, algorithm, sensor, and mechanical engineering teams to quantify and model factors influencing product performance and reliability of health monitoring platforms. You'll work with large-scale bench, clinical, manufacturing, and real-world datasets to drive product excellence.

Responsibilities

• Leverage large-scale bench, clinical, manufacturing, and real-world data to identify key drivers of product performance, reliability, and user experience
• Design and build scalable analytical tools, dashboards, and data workflows that enable teams to efficiently visualize and understand product behavior
• Develop models, machine learning solutions, and advanced analytical methods to generate actionable insights that influence product development and business decisions
• Lead exploratory initiatives to evaluate new hypotheses, identify emerging opportunities, and improve existing methodologies
• Provide technical leadership in data science and analytics, influencing study design, success metrics, and analytical strategy for key development programs
• Collaborate closely with product owners, project managers, designers, and cross-functional engineering teams

What We're Looking For

• Master's degree or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
• 8-12 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, OR 5-7 years with a Master's degree, OR 2-4 years with a PhD
• Proven industry experience applying data science, statistics, or machine learning to solve complex product, technology, or business problems
• Direct experience deriving insights from health sensing time series data using statistical modeling, machine learning, or other analytical methods
• Advanced knowledge of SQL and statistical programming languages (Python, R, MATLAB)
• Direct experience handling and querying datasets and databases of various sizes and degrees of cleanliness
• Deep understanding of statistical inference, experimental design, predictive modeling, uncertainty quantification, and data visualization
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to distill complex technical information for varying stakeholders
• Ability to independently manage and consult with stakeholders on complex projects to define success criteria and timelines
• Proven track record of influencing decisions and driving measurable impact through data-driven recommendations

This is a remote position with 0-5% travel required. Your location will be a home office; you are not required to live within commuting distance of a company site. If you reside within commuting distance of a client site (typically 75 miles), a hybrid working environment may be available.
