SpaceX is hiring a Sourcing Manager, Capital Equipment & Construction (Starlink) for a full-time role based in Memphis, TN. This position drives procurement strategy that supports major construction efforts and capital acquisitions while advancing Starlink-related production goals.
What This Role Involves
As the Sourcing Manager, Capital Equipment & Construction (Starlink) in Memphis, TN, you will primarily back construction and facility projects for xAI datacenters. Your work enables delivery of customer-facing products and requires tight coordination with internal stakeholders. SpaceX moves at high speed and expects the same from team members who find creative paths to stronger supplier value and partnerships. You will help shape the supply chain around tighter cost, quality, and delivery targets while owning construction projects and capital purchases for the facilities and construction groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner directly with core internal stakeholders to design and launch a complete contract management process that supports full project success cycles
- Build and implement equipment and service procurement plans centered on construction projects
- Run market reviews to establish should-cost baselines and lock in optimal pricing for equipment and services across varied initiatives
- Draft and negotiate contract documents side-by-side with the legal team
- Monitor forecast versus actual spend, evaluate budget exposure, and deliver transparent analysis that equips leadership for rapid decisions
- Oversee supplier relationships to keep communication clear, contracts followed, and any performance or delivery gaps resolved
- Present business cases to SpaceX leadership covering awards, cost reviews, savings approaches, and urgent supply topics
- Identify and lead cost-reduction efforts with full planning, stakeholder alignment, completion estimates, and progress updates
- Conduct advanced quantitative and process reviews to surface financial effects of choices, savings opportunities, and category performance
- Launch and maintain programs that develop, refine, govern, and score the supplier base against key performance indicators
- Lead request-for-proposal cycles that meet needs for assigned categories or internal areas
- Issue purchase orders and clear blocked invoices within owned categories
- Drive projects that shrink overall transaction volume
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree plus five or more years of experience in one or more of engineering, purchasing, contract negotiation, operations or supply chain management, master production scheduling, or construction, facilities, or industrial plant management; or nine or more years of experience in those areas without a degree
- Technical fluency that enables clear dialogue with engineers combined with commercial strength for contracts and negotiations
- Background managing construction projects or preparing construction cost estimates
- Hands-on purchasing or related procurement experience
- Experience in industrial engineering, construction management, and/or facilities management
- Strong budget tracking and cost-analysis capability
- Proven large-scale industrial and commercial construction project leadership
- Advanced contract negotiation and document control skills
- Sharp problem-solving with a preference for speed
- Ability to learn quickly and prioritize so customer and company needs are met
- Excellent customer-service, written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Deep analytical and organizational strength plus proficiency with tools such as the Microsoft Office suite, SQL, and PowerBI
- Consistent conduct with the highest integrity, detail focus, self-motivation, and readiness for a fast, shifting environment
- Willingness to travel up to 20 percent of the work week, including international trips, and to communicate outside regular hours
- Readiness to work extended hours and weekends when deadlines demand it
- Must be present onsite in Memphis, TN
- Must satisfy U.S. Government export regulations as a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or be able to obtain the required State Department authorizations
