As a Registered Behavior Technician with Centria Autism in Vicksburg, Michigan you meet individually with children to carry out customized intervention plans overseen by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Daily work builds communication abilities, interaction habits, and practical life skills while lessening unwanted behaviors through established approaches. Full preparation is supplied so newcomers and those with backgrounds alike can succeed. The setting remains active, calling for comfort with continual movement and readiness for occasionally demanding interactions that require both resolve and physical capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out individualized behavior plans during one-to-one time with children
  • Develop communication, social, and independence skills using research-supported strategies
  • Address and decrease interfering behaviors consistently and carefully
  • Partner successfully with BCBAs and fellow team members
  • Handle the physical side of sessions involving standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, crouching, squatting, reaching, grasping, and lifting or carrying children or materials up to 50 pounds

Requirements

  • Strong desire to assist children with autism
  • Patience, kindness, and strength in team settings
  • At least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Capacity to gain CPR, First Aid certification, and a tuberculosis test if none occurred within the past year
  • Ability to satisfy a pre-employment background check
  • Comfort shifting among postures such as sitting, squatting, and bending
  • Strength to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Extra experience as a Behavioral Technician, supporting children with autism or learning differences, Teacher’s Aide, tutor, CNA, caregiver, or Home Health Aide can prove helpful yet is not mandatory because training covers all essentials.
