SpaceX invites qualified professionals to apply for the full-time Global Supply Manager, Utilities & Infrastructure (Starlink) role based onsite in Bastrop, TX. This position drives critical supplier oversight supporting Starlink production scale-up.
What This Role Involves
As a key member of the Starlink supply chain group within SpaceX operations in Bastrop, TX, the Global Supply Manager, Utilities & Infrastructure (Starlink) provides complete ownership over international vendors delivering essential power generation components and capital assets. You will shape acquisition plans, elevate vendor results, address exposures, refine spending, and lock in delivery schedules to enable aggressive manufacturing growth for Starlink. The work demands close coordination with internal teams and adaptive navigation of complex global markets for energy, gas, and water categories.
Responsibilities
- Develop targeted acquisition plans for energy, gas, and water categories that minimize exposure and satisfy operational demand
- Build lasting partnerships with core internal colleagues
- Construct high-level procurement frameworks that maximize product and service value while matching unit needs and delivering ongoing controlled-spending reductions
- Present effectively to executives and decision-makers during high-impact discussions
- Convey, oversee, and enforce adherence to acquisition approaches
- Locate and implement spending-reduction efforts, encompassing planning, stakeholder alignment, timeline estimates, and progress reporting
- Carry out advanced numerical and process reviews revealing financial effects of choices, savings paths, and category performance
- Work with partners to set supplier service agreements and performance indicators, then score results on outcomes, economies, excellence, and schedule reliability
- Research markets, establish comparisons, and collect intelligence for owned categories
- Prepare agreement documents in concert with legal colleagues
- Administer pacts so suppliers meet contractual duties
- Clarify interconnected contract clauses and apply them inventively to shifting needs via sound commercial judgment
- Deliver greater value and savings while limiting exposure through disciplined bargaining
- Drive annual efficiency gains by lowering consumption and removing waste from operations
- Designate preferred vendors for assigned categories
- Create and run complete programs that grow, improve, direct, and track the supplier network with focus on continuous gains and metric achievement
- Issue orders and clear held invoices for owned categories
- Lead initiatives that cut transaction volume within assigned areas
Skills & Qualifications
- Advanced degree with four or more years, or bachelor’s degree with six or more years, or ten-plus years experience in engineering, purchasing, contract negotiation, material or production planning, operations or supply chain management, or material cost control
- One or more years procuring large capital equipment
- Preferred experience with power generation involving turbines or generator sets
- Preferred background sourcing air separation units for liquid oxygen and nitrogen production
- Preferred knowledge of specialized vacuum-insulated pressure vessels
- Preferred experience acquiring power generation equipment such as gas turbines
- Preferred skill reading technical drawings and partnering on engineering bills of materials
- Preferred proficiency with current tools including Microsoft Office Suite, SQL, and PowerBI
- Preferred technical procurement or manufacturing background
- Preferred strong presentation ability before senior leaders
- Preferred capacity to perform amid uncertainty with a bias toward action
- Preferred problem-solving orientation favoring speed and constructive results
- Preferred outstanding analytical and organizational ability
- Preferred clear written, verbal, and presentation communication
- Preferred highest ethical standards and integrity in all actions
- Ability to travel up to 25 percent of the work week, including internationally
- Ability to work extended hours or weekends when major milestones require it
- Requirement to work onsite in Bastrop, TX
- Eligibility under U.S. export rules as a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or ability to obtain required authorizations
