Solutions Engineering Manager

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI technology organization in their search for a Solutions Engineering Manager to establish and lead their presales function in London. This is a founding leadership role where you'll build the discipline from the ground up, shaping the playbook that drives regional success while staying hands-on with high-impact opportunities.

Our client serves enterprise customers globally and is expanding their European presence following significant recent growth. As Solutions Engineering Manager, you will have full ownership of your team's success, hiring and developing Solutions Engineers while personally engaging in the most strategic deals in your market.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, onboard, and develop a team of 5-10 Solutions Engineers across experience levels, from mid-career professionals to subject matter experts
• Conduct regular one-on-ones, deal reviews, and career development conversations to ensure high-quality discovery, demos, and technical evaluations
• Execute and reinforce core presales motions including research, discovery, demonstrations, workshops, Proofs of Concept, champion building, and handover to customer success
• Design and evolve demo methodologies to prove business value quickly regardless of use case or vertical
• Build and maintain presales toolkits including demo environments, reusable assets, evaluation guides, and objection handling resources
• Own forecasting and pipeline hygiene for presales involvement, reporting on team performance, win rates, and opportunity throughput
• Partner with Sales leadership on account and territory strategy, ensuring optimal resourcing against highest-value opportunities
• Provide visibility into deal risk, timeline, and technical dependencies across active opportunities
• Route field feedback, product gaps, and competitive intelligence to Product and Marketing teams
• Coach Solutions Engineers on expert-level discovery, demonstrations, and Proof of Concept scoping
• Deliver executive readouts as business narratives for C-level audiences when required

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience recruiting, managing, and developing Solutions Engineering or presales teams through the full employee lifecycle
• Background building teams from scratch as well as inheriting and improving existing teams
• Career progression from individual contributor executing against playbooks to solving complex problems and building deep domain expertise
• Track record of improving team performance through coaching, hands-on deal support, and consistent execution of established presales processes
• Experience owning forecasting, pipeline hygiene, and performance reporting from a presales perspective
• Fluency in MEDDPICC and Command of the Message frameworks with ability to coach others on practical application
• Clear, inclusive communication skills with ability to shift between technical detail and executive-level value narratives
• Collaborative leadership style, comfortable partnering with Sales, Product, Customer Success, and Marketing as peers
• Experience with AI tools and willingness to evangelize their use across the team
• Ability to work hybrid in London (2-3 days per week in office)
