Software Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential cleantech organization that is building critical infrastructure for the energy transition. Our client operates software that controls distributed energy assets at scale, moving electricity usage to optimize for cost and carbon intensity.

This is a generalist Software Engineer position where you'll build core systems for device connectivity, orchestration, and energy market participation. You'll work in a flat structure with significant ownership, interacting directly with clients and market operators.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain infrastructure for connecting to and orchestrating distributed energy devices
• Enable energy assets to participate in electricity markets through software integration
• Develop across the stack, encompassing product engineering, DevOps, and data engineering
• Engage directly with clients and end users to gather feedback and requirements
• Collaborate with market operators to ensure seamless system integration
• Take ownership of features from conception through deployment
• Manage your own time and adapt to changing scope and priorities

What We're Looking For

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with a generalist mindset
• Experience with Python and React
• Familiarity with Docker and containerized deployments
• Experience deploying on cloud platforms (GCP preferred)
• Ability to form deep domain understanding and execute independently
• Focus on outcomes over process, with strong product instincts
• Comfortable working in a flat organizational structure with high autonomy
• Motivated by climate impact and the energy transition

Location and Working Arrangements

This role is based in London with hybrid working. You'll be expected in the office 2-3 days per week, with the office located near Farringdon. The office is dog-friendly.

Pay

Total compensation ranges from £75,000 to £200,000, combining base salary and equity. Our client operates with a deliberately flat compensation structure designed for equity across the organization. Enhanced parental leave and bi-annual team retreats are included.
