SOC Analyst

Prime System Solutions is seeking a Security Operations Centre Analyst to strengthen our cybersecurity team in a full-time, remote position. Join us to monitor, detect, and respond to security threats, protecting critical infrastructure and organisational assets for clients across South Africa and internationally.

The Opportunity

As a SOC Analyst, you'll be the eyes and ears of our security operations, working within a dedicated centre to identify, analyse, and respond to potential security threats in real time. This is a hands-on role that demands vigilance, technical acumen, and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. You'll contribute directly to defending against sophisticated threats whilst developing expertise in modern security tools, methodologies, and incident response procedures. Responsibilities

• Monitor security systems, networks, and infrastructure for unusual activity and potential threats
• Analyse security alerts, logs, and network traffic to distinguish genuine threats from false positives
• Escalate and respond to security incidents following established protocols
• Document findings, incidents, and remediation actions meticulously
• Collaborate with security engineers and IT teams to resolve vulnerabilities
• Maintain awareness of emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security best practices
• Support the development and refinement of security monitoring strategies

Qualifications

• Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity principles, network architecture, and system administration
• Experience with SIEM platforms, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, or similar security tools
• Familiarity with incident response processes and threat analysis frameworks
• Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to interpret logs, alerts, and network data with attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and ability to document complex technical findings clearly
• Relevant certifications such as Security+, CEH, or GCIA are advantageous
