Senior Accountant

Prime System Solutions is hiring a Senior Accountant for a full-time, fully remote position available to candidates based in South Africa. This is an opportunity to lead accounting functions and drive financial excellence from anywhere, contributing to a growing organisation.

About This Position

We're seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to take ownership of core accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance. You'll manage a portfolio of accounts, mentor junior team members, and serve as a trusted financial advisor to leadership. This role offers autonomy, responsibility, and the flexibility to work remotely whilst maintaining strong financial controls and regulatory standards.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly and year-end financial close processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and journals
• Prepare and review management accounts, statutory financial statements, and regulatory submissions
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal policies
• Support budget forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning activities
• Train and supervise accounting staff, reviewing their work and providing guidance
• Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and government authorities as needed
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy

Requirements

• Degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline
• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CA(SA), or equivalent) preferred
• At least 5–7 years of accounting experience, with 2+ years in a senior or supervisory role
• Advanced proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheet applications
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with teams
• Reliable internet connection and a suitable remote working environment
