About the Role

Working under the direction of a Care Coordinator and the broader Treatment Team, the Skillbuilder I helps create a safe, nurturing space where young people can practice everyday competencies, build confidence, and move toward greater independence.

What You'll Do

  • Assist youth in developing daily living skills such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and money management.
  • Facilitate social skill building through structured activities, role‑play, and community outings.
  • Observe and document progress toward individualized goals, sharing observations with the Care Coordinator and team.
  • Ensure the environment remains physically safe and emotionally supportive by setting clear boundaries and responding calmly to challenging behaviors.
  • Collaborate with family members, teachers, and service providers to ensure consistency across settings.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay current on best practices in IDD support.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in human services, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with children or adolescents who have developmental disabilities, autism, or similar needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly with youth, families, and colleagues.
  • Reliability, patience, and a genuine commitment to fostering growth and independence.
  • Ability to follow treatment plans, implement behavior support strategies, and adhere to agency policies.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for community‑based visits.
