Senior UI/UX Designer (all genders)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential digital services organization based in Hamburg. We're seeking a Senior UI/UX Designer to join their interdisciplinary project teams working on complex web applications, portals, and information systems across public sector, healthcare, and regulated private industry clients.

In this role, you'll take ownership of the complete design process—from understanding user needs and business objectives through to final interface delivery. You'll work at the intersection of user research, strategic thinking, and visual execution, building and maintaining design systems that serve as the foundation for consistent, accessible digital products.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design process for client projects, from design vision and language definition through to final UI implementation
• Create visually refined and functionally sophisticated user flows and interfaces for complex applications, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and technical feasibility
• Provide strategic consulting to clients and project teams on digital product evolution, combining user insights with market observations
• Own design systems throughout their lifecycle—including documentation, contribution guidelines, reviews, and training for colleagues and clients
• Facilitate workshops, present design decisions to non-design stakeholders, and advocate for user-centered approaches
• Take creative leadership in proposals and pitches
• Deploy AI tools strategically within design workflows and share learnings with the team
• Provide technical leadership for small UX/UI teams on client projects, conducting design reviews and mentoring colleagues

What We're Looking For

Must-haves:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in UX and UI design for digital products
• Degree in Communication Design, Interaction Design, Media Informatics, Human-Computer Interaction, or comparable qualification
• Substantial experience developing, applying, and evolving design systems with strong visual sensibility and quality standards
• Proficiency with UX methods, complex application design, and digital accessibility requirements
• Experience collaborating with development teams in agile environments
• Track record facilitating workshops and presenting design solutions to clients and stakeholders
• Strong portfolio demonstrating your work from problem definition to final interface, including design system experience
• Fluent German and English (written and spoken)

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience in regulated sectors such as public sector, healthcare, or energy
• Background leading small design teams on client projects
• Art direction experience
• Practical experience with AI-supported design processes, prototyping, or code generation
