About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing technology company in the consumer goods sector, seeking a Product Engineer to join their development team. This role is based in Hamburg with remote flexibility for exceptional candidates. You'll work at the intersection of product strategy and hands-on engineering, building AI-powered tools that deliver measurable business impact.

Responsibilities

• Own features end-to-end from concept through production deployment, ensuring complete solutions that drive business value
• Design and integrate AI-powered capabilities into the platform, identifying opportunities where AI can improve workflows and decision-making
• Build solid data models and scalable architectures that serve as reliable foundations for product development
• Develop across the full stack—frontend React applications and backend APIs—with quality and testing built in from the start
• Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to align priorities, communicate technical concepts clearly, and drive adoption of new tools
• Transform repeated work into reusable components and shared building blocks to accelerate future development
• Gather user feedback, iterate quickly, and continuously improve shipped features based on real-world usage
• Stay current with emerging technologies and engineering practices to keep systems competitive

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
• 5–8 years of professional software development experience with demonstrated product mindset
• Strong proficiency with TypeScript and modern React (experience with React 19, Vite preferred)
• Backend experience with Node.js, Express or similar frameworks, REST APIs, and PostgreSQL with practical SQL skills
• Hands-on experience building AI into products—structured extraction, automation, RAG, or agentic workflows beyond just using AI coding assistants
• Familiarity with modern AI/ML frameworks and agentic AI systems
• Solid data modeling skills and experience building scalable system architectures
• Strong engineering quality mindset with experience validating products through appropriate testing
• Product sense—ability to understand business processes and user perspectives, not just code
• Strong communication skills and experience driving adoption with stakeholders at all levels
• Comfort operating in dynamic, fast-paced environments with shifting priorities
• Proactive mindset with strong autonomy and initiative
• Fluent English required; German is a plus

Nice to Have:

• Experience with LLM tooling including provider APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini) and agent/tool-use patterns
• Familiarity with vector search technologies (pgvector or similar)
• Hands-on experience with product analytics and observability tools (PostHog, Sentry)
• Experience integrating ERPs or operational systems handling orders, inventory, or master data
• Background in eCommerce, wholesale, or B2B platform environments
• Python for data tooling; Docker, GitHub Actions, AWS experience
