We are representing a confidential public-sector technology organization seeking a System Engineer for Microsoft Infrastructure. In this role, you will implement, operate, and develop modern Microsoft-based environments, working on everything from technical deployment and administration to complex transformation and architecture projects.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Installing, configuring, administering, and migrating IT systems within Microsoft ecosystems
- Analyzing technical requirements and developing appropriate infrastructure solutions
- Performing changes, testing, and troubleshooting activities
- Participating in IT projects and taking ownership of technical work packages
- Optimizing existing infrastructures and supporting the introduction of new technologies
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation, concepts, and operational materials
- Supporting rollouts and ongoing operational activities
- Coordinating technical tasks and liaising with stakeholders and project teams
- Ensuring quality, documentation standards, and sustainable operations
- For senior profiles: designing IT solutions and architectures
What We're Looking For
Our client is hiring for multiple experience levels—from junior to senior professionals. You don't need to meet every qualification listed; what matters is that your background aligns with one of these levels.
Core qualifications:
- Practical experience working with Microsoft environments or comparable infrastructure technologies (Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, virtualization)
- Knowledge of installation, configuration, administration, and operation of IT systems
- Familiarity with automation and scripting, particularly PowerShell
- Understanding of monitoring, backup, and high-availability concepts is advantageous
- Interest in developing modern Microsoft infrastructures and tackling challenging technical issues
- Experience with IT processes, ideally ITIL
- Structured, solution-oriented work style with ability to handle technical tasks independently
- Strong analytical skills and enjoyment of solving complex problems
- Experience creating technical concepts and documentation
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Very good German language skills and good English proficiency
- Willingness to undergo security clearance (SÜ2)
For experienced profiles:
- Experience in complex IT projects, architecture, consulting, or technical project leadership
- Ability to translate requirements into viable technical solutions and architectures
Relevant technologies: Windows Server 2016–2025, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, PowerShell, VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, virtualization, backup and recovery, monitoring, ITIL, BSI/ISO 27001, 2nd- to 3rd-level support, deployment, patch management, automation, infrastructure design, datacenter architecture.
