Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager (f/m/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential construction technology organization seeking a Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager to establish and scale their procurement function in Berlin. In this role, you will build strategic procurement foundations from the ground up and drive end-to-end implementation of material group strategies.

Build strategic procurement foundations:

• Establish and implement strategic procurement processes including sourcing methodology, governance frameworks, templates, and KPIs
• Develop material group strategies covering category roadmaps, supplier landscape analysis, total cost of ownership logic, and risk and sustainability criteria
• Shape supplier segmentation and relationship management routines including performance reviews, development plans, and risk mitigation
• Ensure cross-functional alignment with Engineering, Production, Quality and Project teams to translate requirements into scalable sourcing strategies

Lead sourcing and negotiations:

• Own supplier discovery, RFx processes, benchmarking and award decisions for construction-material categories including timber/engineered wood, steel, windows/façade systems, and MEP components
• Prepare and execute commercial and contractual negotiations covering pricing, frameworks, and terms in collaboration with Legal and Finance stakeholders
• Drive supplier qualification and continuous improvement with focus on availability, quality, lead times, and total cost
• Build strong partnerships across Europe and proactively manage supply risks related to capacity, market volatility, and compliance

Enable procurement professionalisation and digitisation:

Depending on your strengths, you will own workstreams in one of these areas:

• Process Management: Design and roll out scalable end-to-end Source-to-Contract and Procure-to-Pay processes; define roles, approvals and standards; develop playbooks and templates
• Data Analytics: Build spend and category transparency; define KPI frameworks for savings, supplier performance, delivery reliability, and risk; create decision-ready dashboards
• Process Automation: Identify automation opportunities in workflows, approvals, master data, and reporting; improve data quality and process compliance through standardisation
• Communication and Change Management: Create change narratives, communication plans and training formats to ensure adoption of new processes and tools

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 5-7 years of experience in procurement consulting OR 7-10 years in strategic sourcing, setting up and implementing material group and dual-sourcing strategies with measurable impact
• Strong negotiation and contracting skills with a structured, ownership-driven working style
• Analytical mindset with expertise in total cost of ownership, supplier performance analysis, and risk management
• Excellent stakeholder management and collaborative approach in cross-functional environments
• Fluency in both English and German (minimum B2 level)

Nice to have:

• Experience with ERP and procurement systems such as SAP S/4HANA and data-driven procurement routines
• Knowledge of construction-material markets and supplier landscapes for timber, engineered wood products, steel, windows, façade systems, and MEP components
