Senior Software Engineer – MAAS

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential open-source technology organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their bare-metal provisioning platform team. This is a remote role open to candidates in EMEA, LATAM, Canada, and the USA.

Our client is building hyperscale provisioning technology that enables rapid deployment and management of physical servers at scale. You'll work on a rapidly evolving software stack written in Python and Go, focusing on performance, networking, storage, and usability.

This position requires international travel several times per year for team collaboration and strategic alignment.

Responsibilities

• Develop core components and features for bare-metal provisioning systems
• Shape system architecture to improve simplicity, performance, and usability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and timely releases
• Contribute to continuous integration environment, automated tests, and development practices
• Create and maintain technical documentation for data centre operators and end users
• Provide technical communication and collaboration across teams
• Take ownership of complex problems and drive them to resolution
• Travel internationally a few times annually for team meetings and collaboration

What We're Looking For

• Passionate about open-source software, Linux, and data centre automation
• Solid professional software development experience in Python and Go for back-end roles, or TypeScript and React for front-end roles
• Strong ability to learn new systems and techniques quickly
• Excellent logic, problem-solving, and troubleshooting capabilities
• Strong English language communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience with Linux server technologies including virtualization (KVM) and containers (LXC)
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or related field
• Knowledge of network technologies: PXE, DHCP, TFTP, DNS, NTP
• Experience with Baseboard Management Controllers and protocols (Redfish, IPMI, AMT)
• Strong background in networking, storage technologies, and cloud infrastructure
• Ideally, experience with large-scale physical server provisioning and automation
• Familiarity with open-source development tools and Debian packaging methodologies
• Exceptional academic track record from high school and university
• Willingness to travel up to 4 times per year for internal events
