Senior Software Engineer – Delivery Experience

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential e-commerce client in their search for a Senior Software Engineer to join their Delivery Experience team in Bordeaux. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact systems that directly improve customer experience and operational efficiency at scale.

Our client operates in a dynamic, agile environment where engineering teams build, launch, monitor, and support the products they own. You'll be part of a squad focused on creating seamless delivery journeys, working closely with business and operations partners to identify opportunities across order tracking, carrier coordination, and delivery exception management.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend services as part of a distributed, service-oriented architecture
• Take ownership of features across the technical stack, from conception through deployment and monitoring
• Facilitate technical discussions around complex system design challenges
• Contribute to the ongoing migration from monolithic architecture to microservices
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to deliver end-to-end features
• Optimize system performance, data architecture, and API design
• Identify and advocate for tasks that improve delivery efficiency
• Participate in chaos mitigation for mission-critical systems
• Mentor colleagues and foster a learning environment within the team

What We're Looking For

Backend expertise (primary focus):

• 5+ years of backend development experience
• Strong system design skills with proven ability to architect scalable solutions
• Hands-on experience with microservices and distributed systems
• Deep understanding of data architecture, APIs, and performance optimization
• Experience with Python (FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Celery) or similar modern backend frameworks
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Redis, message queues (Kafka/RabbitMQ)

Frontend capabilities (solid working knowledge):

• Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks, particularly Vue.js or React
• Ability to independently build frontend features
• Understanding of state management, routing, and API integration
• Consideration for performance, accessibility, and user experience

Fullstack mindset:

• End-to-end product thinking and curiosity about the complete technical stack
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to navigate ambiguity across technical domains
• Passion for writing clean, consistent, and well-organized code

Additional requirements:

• Fluent English (you'll work with an international team across multiple locations)
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP/AWS), Docker, Kubernetes is a plus
• Comfortable in a hybrid work environment: 3 days per week in Bordeaux office (Mondays mandatory)
