Senior Software Engineer – Data Platform (Tech Lead)

Continental is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Data Platform (Tech Lead) to join our technology team in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. This is a full-time, on-site position where you'll lead the design and evolution of our data infrastructure, driving platform reliability and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organisation.

What This Role Involves

As a Senior Software Engineer and Tech Lead for our Data Platform, you'll take ownership of the architecture, development, and optimisation of systems that serve as the backbone of our data capabilities. You'll work on infrastructure that processes, stores, and delivers data to teams across Continental, ensuring scalability, performance, and security. This role sits at the intersection of engineering leadership and hands-on technical contribution, where you'll mentor team members while staying deeply engaged with the platform's core challenges.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop scalable data platform components, including ingestion pipelines, storage layers, and query optimisation systems
• Lead technical decisions and architectural reviews within your domain, ensuring consistency with broader platform strategy
• Collaborate with data scientists, analytics teams, and backend engineers to understand requirements and evolve the platform accordingly
• Mentor and guide junior engineers on your team, fostering technical growth and best practices
• Optimise system performance, monitor reliability, and drive improvements to reduce latency and operational overhead
• Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and the continuous improvement of our engineering practices

What We're Looking For

• Several years of professional experience building data platforms, data warehouses, or large-scale distributed systems
• Proven track record as a technical leader or senior engineer, with experience mentoring others
• Strong foundation in software engineering principles: system design, performance optimisation, testing, and debugging
• Hands-on expertise with modern data technologies and cloud platforms
• Deep understanding of data architecture patterns, ETL/ELT processes, and data quality frameworks
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across teams and departments
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
