(Senior) Software Engineer – Data Integration Focus – Remote (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing healthtech startup backed by leading European investors. Our client is building AI-powered automation to reduce administrative burden in healthcare settings, allowing medical staff to focus on patient care rather than paperwork and scheduling tasks.

This is a remote Senior Software Engineer position focused on data integration. You'll be instrumental in scaling their platform by building and maintaining integrations with third-party practice management systems and healthcare software.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement read/write integrations with third-party practice management systems to access schedules, patient context, messages, and workflow metadata
• Build infrastructure that scales to support thousands of individual practice servers
• Engineer robust systems with strong data consistency, idempotency, retry logic, comprehensive error handling, and observability
• Triage production integration failures, communicate impact clearly to stakeholders, and implement systematic improvements to prevent recurring issues
• Define technical standards and architectural patterns for integration work
• Establish pragmatic processes for integration development, ongoing maintenance, and incident response
• Ship production-grade integrations that unlock new platform capabilities

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Strong hands-on programming experience in Python, TypeScript, and/or Rust
• Proven track record building and operating software in production environments
• Deep understanding of integration patterns, distributed systems architecture, and failure modes
• Ability to work effectively in environments with inconsistent API behavior, incomplete documentation, and legacy systems
• Clear communication skills, especially under pressure during incidents or when managing competing priorities
• Comfort working in a fast-paced startup environment

Preferred qualifications:

• Prior experience with healthcare software or practice management systems
• Familiarity with healthcare workflows, medical terminology, or data standards such as FHIR
• Fluent German (spoken and written)
• Previous startup or scale-up experience
