Senior Software Engineer, Aggregation & Search

About the Role

We are representing a confidential blockchain analytics organization in their search for a Senior Software Engineer to join their Aggregation & Search team in the United Kingdom. Our client is a leader in cryptocurrency intelligence, building products that process blockchain data at massive scale. This is a high-impact individual contributor role working on core data infrastructure that powers critical investigation and compliance capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve data ingest services for enriched transfers generation and aggregations using Java Spring Boot
• Design and tune PostgreSQL transaction batching, indexing, and replication strategies for write-heavy, high-throughput workloads
• Contribute to next-generation architecture by running proof-of-concepts, benchmarking latency, writing architectural decision records, and delivering to production
• Build and maintain scalable API services on AWS handling thousands of requests per second
• Automate network onboarding processes end-to-end
• Debug production issues across microservices, define service-level objectives, and participate in on-call rotation
• Integrate LLM-based tools into engineering workflows and build agentic automation for operational tasks including automated incident triage, self-healing pipelines, and intelligent alerting

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 8+ years of production experience with PostgreSQL including schema design, query optimization, partitioning, replication, and performance tuning under write-heavy workloads
• 8+ years building Java Spring Boot services including REST APIs, JDBC, connection pooling, and JVM performance profiling
• Experience with Kafka or equivalent streaming systems: consumer groups, offset management, and partition lag debugging
• Track record operating distributed systems on AWS: microservices, multi-silo deployments, and Terraform
• Strong cross-system debugging skills with ability to trace issues from metrics through logs to code
• Comfort with AI-assisted development and agentic engineering practices
• Bias toward shipping and iterating alongside product and design partners
• Genuine excitement for scaling large data systems

Technical stack familiarity expected:

• AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform
• Python, GitHub including GitHub Actions
• DataDog, Humio, PagerDuty

Nice to have:

• Database migration experience evaluating and cutting over between storage systems
• Flink, Spark, or lakehouse formats (Delta Lake, Iceberg, Parquet)
• Kubernetes operations including StatefulSets, HelmReleases, and stateful workloads
• Experience mentoring engineers and driving technical decisions through RFCs/ADRs
• Interest in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology
