Senior Programme Manager

Responsibilities

Our client, a confidential defence technology organization, is seeking a Senior Programme Manager to win, shape, and deliver critical defence programmes from initial engagement through full execution. You will own outcomes end to end.

In this role, you will act as a market-facing leader, managing relationships with military, government, and defence stakeholders. You'll translate customer needs, operational context, and policy requirements into clear programme plans and delivery priorities.

You will lead programme execution across internal teams and external partners, maintaining momentum, clarity, and accountability throughout. The role requires balancing commercial, technical, and delivery realities while making difficult trade-offs when necessary.

Additional responsibilities include developing thought leadership, concept papers, and programme narratives that influence customers and partners. You will support business development by identifying opportunities, shaping bids, and converting interest into funded work. Representation of the organization with credibility and mission focus in high-stakes customer environments is essential.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of programme or delivery experience in defence, aerospace, policy, or adjacent high-consequence sectors
• Proven experience operating in market-facing roles with direct customer, partner, or stakeholder exposure
• Native-level fluency in German and fluent English, with comfort operating in bilingual, cross-cultural defence environments
• Commercial mindset with experience balancing delivery, growth, and customer trust
• Prior military service or close operational exposure strongly preferred
• Ability to operate confidently with senior customers and stakeholders
• Strong writing and communication skills, capable of producing credible programme narratives and thought pieces
• Proven success in high-ownership environments where accountability and visibility are paramount
• Motivation driven by building and delivering real capability rather than managing process
