Senior Product Engineer – Android/Kotlin

About This Opportunity

We are representing a profitable European fintech leader serving over 600,000 business customers across multiple countries. Our client is building the finance workspace that SMEs rely on daily, and they need an experienced Android engineer to own product-critical features in a sophisticated, modular Kotlin codebase.

This is a Senior Product Engineer - Android/Kotlin role based in Berlin, where you'll work end-to-end on features that help businesses manage payments, receivables, and financial operations. You'll collaborate with Product, Design, and Backend teams in a quality-driven environment that balances craft with velocity.

Responsibilities

• Own features end-to-end: From discovery and technical design through implementation, rollout, and iteration on business-critical functionality
• Drive technical decisions: Shape solutions by clarifying tradeoffs across UX, performance, security, and delivery timelines alongside cross-functional partners
• Improve reliability and maintainability: Enhance architecture, performance, and testing strategy to scale the application without compromising stability
• Solve complex mobile challenges: Contribute to real-time synchronization, resilience patterns, and navigation in a large modular codebase (~1,000 modules)
• Elevate team craft: Lead code reviews, share technical patterns, and mentor peers to raise quality and delivery standards

What We're Looking For

• Strong Android native experience: Proven track record shipping and maintaining production features with Kotlin, comfortable owning technical decisions end-to-end
• Quality-driven mindset: Deep care for testing (unit, UI, snapshot), clean code, and pragmatic standards that enable fast iteration
• Problem-solving approach: You thrive in ambiguity and transform complex constraints into simple, robust solutions
• AI-native workflow: Daily use of AI coding tools to amplify output and raise the bar on engineering quality
• Collaborative nature: Fluent English communication, active participation in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentorship across technical and non-technical stakeholders

Technical Environment:

• 100% Kotlin with Coroutines and Flow
• MVVM + Clean Architecture with ~1,000 modules
• Jetpack Compose for new screens, with ongoing migration from legacy views
• Robust testing culture: 26,000+ unit tests, 14,000+ snapshot tests, 500+ UI tests
• CI/CD via GitHub Actions, Bitrise, Firebase Test Lab

Location: Berlin, with flexibility to work from Germany, France, Italy, Serbia, Portugal, or Spain if you're willing to relocate.
