Senior HVAC Mechanical Design Engineer

Wabtec is hiring a Senior HVAC Mechanical Design Engineer in Shanghai, SD, CN for a full-time role. As an experienced mechanical engineer, you'll lead the design and development of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for rail and transit vehicles.

Position Summary

In this senior-level position, you'll drive the engineering and design of HVAC systems that power Wabtec's rail transit solutions. You'll take ownership of complex mechanical projects from initial concept through production, leveraging your expertise in thermal design and systems engineering to deliver reliable, efficient climate control solutions that meet stringent performance and regulatory standards.

Core Duties

• Lead mechanical design and development of HVAC systems for rail vehicles and transit equipment
• Perform thermal analysis, computational modeling, and performance optimization calculations
• Generate detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
• Partner with electrical, controls, and manufacturing teams to integrate HVAC subsystems
• Conduct design verification, validation testing, and regulatory compliance reviews
• Identify and resolve design challenges during development and field testing cycles
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous process improvement

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or related discipline
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience designing HVAC or climate control systems
• Expert-level proficiency with CAD platforms such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Creo
• Strong foundation in thermodynamics, heat transfer principles, and fluid mechanics
• Demonstrated experience with system testing, commissioning, and performance validation
• Superior analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication abilities
