Accordion is hiring a Senior Director, Data Platform to lead enterprise data transformations for private equity clients across Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco. This full-time position combines technical expertise with client leadership to deliver modern data platforms that drive measurable value creation.

About This Position

You'll direct large-scale data platform modernization programs for PE sponsors and their portfolio companies, translating business goals into engineered solutions on Snowflake, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric. Own complete program outcomes—scope, timeline, budget, quality, and impact—while stewarding sophisticated data architectures across retail, CPG, healthcare, media, technology, and logistics sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of complex, multi-workstream data platform programs with full P&L accountability
  • Manage geographically distributed teams (onshore and offshore) and mature Agile delivery practices
  • Design target-state data architectures including lakehouse/medallion patterns, governance, CI/CD automation, observability, and lineage
  • Serve as the senior executive relationship owner, guiding stakeholders through strategy, technical tradeoffs, and change management
  • Provide architectural authority on Snowflake (warehousing, RBAC, cost optimization), Databricks, and Azure data services
  • Manage commercial performance—SOW alignment, staffing, budgets, margin forecasting, and acceptance criteria
  • Build practice assets: playbooks, accelerators, pre-sales support, and sales materials
  • Support pursuits through technical scoping, estimation, storytelling, and executive workshops
  • Drive business development and mentor team members as the practice grows
  • Travel to client sites as needed for delivery and relationship management

Who We're Looking For

  • 10+ years in technology delivery; 5+ years leading data platform/engineering transformations in consulting (required)
  • Proven success managing $1M–$5M+ programs across multiple workstreams with distributed teams and C-suite stakeholders
  • Deep hands-on fluency: Snowflake (warehousing, RBAC, performance/cost tuning), Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services (ADF, Synapse, ADLS)
  • Strong architecture judgment in lakehouse/medallion patterns, data modeling, governance, quality, and observability
  • Agile delivery expertise (Scrum/Kanban, Jira/Azure DevOps, CI/CD for data, Git workflows)
  • Executive communication skills with VP/C-suite/sponsor-level stakeholders
  • Strong commercial instincts—proposals, resource planning, engagement economics
  • Preferred: Regulated industries, PE-backed environments, CFO office transformations, Power BI/Fabric, FinOps, GDPR/CCPA, AI-led value creation
  • Preferred: BS/MS in CS, IS, Engineering, Math, Physics, or related discipline; MBA is a plus
  • Preferred: PMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, SnowPro, or Azure DP-203/AZ-305 certifications
