Senior Database Administrator (3 months contract)

Talan is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to oversee and advance enterprise database infrastructure in Argentina on a 3-month contract basis, ensuring operational resilience and optimal performance across distributed SQL Server environments.

About the Role

This position offers the opportunity to shape database strategy while managing day-to-day technical operations for a large-scale SQL Server estate. You will serve as a trusted technical advisor on database administration, system reliability, optimization, and industry best practices, partnering with infrastructure, architectural, and development teams to support mission-critical applications and services.

Core Duties

• Manage, observe, and fine-tune Microsoft SQL Server deployments across the organization's infrastructure footprint.
• Establish and champion database governance frameworks, technical standards, and operational procedures.
• Contribute to architecture decisions spanning data integration approaches, schema structure, data consistency, storage approaches, and system efficiency.
• Execute installation, setup, patching, and lifecycle management of SQL Server instances and database tools.
• Oversee and enhance backup strategies, recovery processes, and business continuity mechanisms.
• Deploy and administer authentication, authorization, and encryption controls aligned with corporate and regulatory mandates.
• Lead query refinement, resource utilization analysis, data retention strategies, and full-lifecycle data management initiatives.
• Provide subject matter expertise on database scalability and advanced storage methodologies, from planning through execution.
• Define performance and system-level criteria for emerging applications during the planning stages.
• Engage in technical strategy sessions and present database-level and platform considerations to stakeholders.
• Guide solution architecture for new systems and platform deployments at the database layer.
• Deliver diagnostic assistance and technical guidance to application teams and IT colleagues.
• Modernize aging database systems through assessment, refactoring, and process improvements.
• Document processes and mentor peers through technical knowledge transfer and collaborative engagement.

Skills & Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise administering Microsoft SQL Server in large, multi-tier production environments.
• Track record managing monitoring systems, backup and restoration protocols, patching cycles, access controls, and index optimization.
• Background with fault-tolerant architectures, business continuity strategies, and platform expansion across database systems.
• Competency in data model design, relational schema construction, and integration architecture fundamentals.
• Professional experience in iterative delivery frameworks such as Agile and Scrum.
• Exposure to demanding, business-critical systems where operational excellence is non-negotiable.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication abilities, with demonstrated effectiveness collaborating across technical disciplines.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent technical field.
