(Senior) Consultant Sustainability Advisory | Climate Tech startup

About This Opportunity

We are representing a high-growth climate technology organization headquartered in Munich. Our client works with major industrial enterprises across Europe to measure, manage, and reduce carbon emissions through their environmental intelligence platform.

As a Sustainability Consultant, you will lead client engagements that translate climate commitments into actionable strategies with measurable business impact. This role combines deep sustainability expertise with commercial consulting skills in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver end-to-end advisory engagements including scoping, hypothesis-driven analysis, quantification, and executive-level presentations
• Lead smaller client projects independently and drive workstreams within larger engagements
• Develop and grow the advisory pipeline by converting platform discussions into scoped opportunities and writing winning proposals with clear approach, scope, and pricing
• Productize advisory services by transforming recurring client needs into repeatable, priced packages with defined deliverables and timelines
• Serve as subject matter expert on EU sustainability regulations (CBAM, CSRD, EUDR, EU ETS), Scope 3 methodology, and decarbonization strategies for sales and supplier engagement teams
• Bridge software and advisory functions by leveraging platform outputs in consulting work and feeding client insights back to product development
• Maintain rigorous operating discipline including time tracking, pipeline management, project margins, and monthly performance reporting

What We're Looking For

• 3-6 years of consulting experience with sustainability as a core focus area
• Strong working knowledge of carbon accounting (Scope 1/2/3) and EU environmental regulations with ability to articulate commercial implications to senior stakeholders
• Proven track record owning client-facing workstreams: problem structuring, business case quantification, and C-level presentations
• Experience contributing to proposals and pitches, understanding how deals are won beyond just execution
• Consulting-grade proficiency in PowerPoint/Google Slides and Excel/Sheets with hypothesis-driven storytelling
• Full ownership mindset—you identify problems and solve them proactively
• Humble, direct communication style with ability to acknowledge mistakes and move forward
• Comfort with ambiguity and rapid change in a startup environment without traditional corporate structures
• Business-fluent English required; business-level German strongly preferred as the client base is predominantly DACH-region
• Based in or willing to relocate to Munich with hybrid working arrangements
