Senior Cloud Performance Engineer

We are representing a confidential cloud analytics organization in their search for a Senior Cloud Performance Engineer. Our client is a fast-growing platform company focused on real-time data processing at massive scale. Responsibilities

• Benchmark system performance, conduct database performance analysis, and optimize capacity sizing
• Troubleshoot and debug application and server errors, analyzing logs to triage issues effectively
• Recommend configuration tuning and optimizations to address performance bottlenecks
• Collaborate with core development, cloud infrastructure, and security teams to enhance platform performance
• Plan, enable, and drive chaos engineering initiatives across engineering teams based on internal priorities
• Develop, deploy, and manage tools to systematically run chaos experiments and measure their impact
• Gain deep understanding of large-scale distributed systems architecture and operation
• Study challenges in software resilience, operational efficiency, and delivery workflows
• Extend backend systems to enable chaos engineering techniques throughout the platform
• Observe running production systems and identify innovative ways to test their resilience

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years of relevant software development experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems
• Strong software development skills in Go, C/C++, Java, or similar languages
• Proven experience with concurrency, multithreading, and distributed system architectures
• Hands-on experience developing cloud infrastructure services, preferably with Kubernetes
• Track record of leading and shipping large-scope technical projects in collaboration with experienced engineering teams
• Deep expertise with a public cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and their IaaS offerings such as EC2
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively within and across engineering teams
• Strong problem-solving abilities and solid production debugging skills
• Passion for efficiency, availability, scalability, and data governance
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a business-partner mindset
• High level of responsibility, ownership, and accountability
