Senior Backend Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential D2C ecommerce organization with a global presence across European markets. Our talent team is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their ERP systems team in Frankfurt. This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale distributed systems that power international fulfillment and logistics operations.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will design and maintain high-performance APIs and backend services that support critical business operations. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to build reliable, scalable infrastructure in a modern cloud environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale backend services using Go and TypeScript to support global fulfillment and logistics operations
• Develop and maintain robust, secure, high-performance REST APIs that integrate with internal systems and third-party providers
• Implement event-driven architectures using AWS services including SNS and SQS for distributed system communication
• Take end-to-end ownership of backend components from development and testing through deployment and monitoring
• Ensure high code quality through automated testing, code reviews, and continuous delivery pipelines
• Participate in agile team practices, share knowledge, and mentor team members
• Contribute to technical recruiting and team growth initiatives

What We're Looking For

• Strong track record designing and delivering scalable, performant backend systems in cloud environments, preferably with Go (Golang) and TypeScript
• Experience building event-driven architectures using AWS SNS/SQS and familiarity with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes)
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design, microservices architecture, and systems integration patterns
• Deep knowledge of computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and software design patterns
• Several years of proven backend software development experience, ideally in fast-paced ecommerce or logistics-focused environments
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and commitment to writing clean, maintainable, well-documented code
• Highly self-organized with strong sense of ownership and proactive problem-solving mindset
• Excellent team player with strong communication skills who thrives in collaborative, feedback-driven environments
• Experience with monitoring tools and observability best practices is a plus
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience required
