Satellite Lead Mission Systems Engineer (SETA)

OMNI Consulting Solutions is hiring a Satellite Lead Mission Systems Engineer in Chantilly, Virginia to provide mission systems engineering leadership and technical advisory support for a critical national security space program. This full-time role positions you as the Government Program Office's principal mission engineering resource, guiding integrated technical execution from spacecraft assembly through launch and beyond.

About This Position

As the Satellite Lead Mission Systems Engineer, you'll take ownership of mission-level engineering coordination for a high-stakes national security satellite initiative. Your role bridges Government, contractor, and support organizations, ensuring seamless technical integration across the entire spacecraft lifecycle—from design reviews through on-orbit readiness. You'll lead a skilled engineering team, distill complex technical information across multiple disciplines, and provide leadership with candid assessments of mission health, technical challenges, schedule impacts, and risk mitigation strategies.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Function as the Government Program Office's primary technical authority for mission-level design, integration, testing, and launch readiness
• Direct systems engineers and subject matter experts through the full spectrum of mission execution and system maturation
• Advise Government and SETA program leadership on mission performance metrics, technical concerns, schedule status, system maturity, and readiness milestones
• Interface regularly with contractor engineering organizations and on-site integration teams to track progress, surface technical issues, and develop solutions
• Review spacecraft integration data, test evidence, verification results, and mission readiness indicators to support informed Government decisions
• Conduct and lead technical interchange meetings, formal engineering reviews, readiness assessments, and cross-team working sessions
• Continuously identify technical, integration, and schedule risks that could affect mission success or launch timelines
• Monitor and report mission progress to Government leadership across enterprise, mission-level, and system reviews
• Support Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) planning, requirements verification, system validation, pre-launch checkouts, and mission readiness evaluations
• Develop executive briefings, technical analyses, and recommendations for senior Government stakeholders
• Manage technical coordination across geographically separated engineering teams and partner organizations

What You Bring

• Proven systems engineering expertise with hands-on experience in spacecraft programs or comparable complex programs
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Strong capability to integrate and synthesize information across electrical, mechanical, thermal, software, and mission operations disciplines
• Excellent communication skills—ability to explain technical concepts to both engineers and senior executives
• Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance
• U.S. Citizenship (required)
