About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential professional services organization seeking an experienced AI Prompt Engineer with deep Atlassian Rovo expertise. This role sits within a technology transformation practice that rebuilds how large enterprises design, govern, and operate software delivery at scale.

You'll design and optimize enterprise AI experiences using Atlassian Rovo and leading LLM platforms. Your work will combine prompt engineering, knowledge orchestration, AI agent development, and workflow automation to deliver secure, accurate, and scalable AI capabilities that improve productivity and decision-making across global delivery organizations.

Responsibilities

• Design enterprise AI prompts and conversational experiences for production deployment
• Develop and maintain Atlassian Rovo Agents, including agent configuration, knowledge connector setup, and action/tool integration
• Build AI-powered knowledge assistants and workflow automations that integrate with enterprise systems
• Curate and structure enterprise knowledge bases to improve AI retrieval accuracy and reduce hallucination risk
• Establish prompt libraries, versioning standards, and governance processes including change control and usage monitoring
• Evaluate and optimize AI performance using quantitative metrics (deflection rates, task completion, response quality scores) and qualitative stakeholder feedback
• Collaborate with product owners, solution architects, AI engineers, and business stakeholders to surface use cases and define success criteria
• Promote AI adoption and prompt engineering best practices across technical and non-technical teams
• Travel may be required for this role, varying from 0 to 100% depending on business need and client requirements

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years in a technical role involving AI/ML systems, NLP, conversational AI, or knowledge management — with at least 2 years working directly with LLMs
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on prompt engineering experience, including designing, testing, and iterating prompts for enterprise use cases across LLM platforms (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar)
• Minimum 2 years helping enterprise clients design, adopt, or govern AI-powered tools, knowledge systems, or automation workflows
• Minimum 2 years building or configuring AI agents, virtual assistants, or chatbot experiences — including tool-use, knowledge grounding, and persona design
• Minimum 2 years with knowledge management systems (Confluence, SharePoint, or similar) and ability to curate content to improve AI output quality
• Minimum 2 years evaluating AI system performance, identifying failure modes, and driving iterative improvement through structured testing
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (minimum 12 years work experience, or 6 years with Associate's Degree)
• US work authorization that does not now or in the future require visa sponsorship

Highly valued experience:

• Hands-on experience with Atlassian Rovo — including agent configuration, conversation design, and behavioral guardrails for enterprise deployment
• Familiarity with Atlassian Intelligence features across Jira, Confluence, and JSM and how they interact with Rovo agents
• Advanced prompt engineering techniques including chain-of-thought reasoning, few-shot and zero-shot prompting, structured output formatting, and RAG patterns
• Experience designing prompts resistant to prompt injection and aligned to enterprise governance requirements
• Systematic prompt evaluation — A/B testing, rubric-based scoring, and automated regression testing for prompt quality
• Understanding of token economics, context window management, and latency/cost tradeoffs in production LLM deployments
• Working knowledge of model differences across leading LLM providers and ability to recommend appropriate models for specific use cases
• Experience establishing prompt governance frameworks with versioning, approval workflows, and compliance requirements
• Familiarity with AI safety, responsible AI principles, and enterprise compliance as applied to LLM-powered applications
• Ability to facilitate AI discovery workshops and develop prompt engineering playbooks to scale AI literacy
