AECOM seeks an Associate Director of Architecture to join our San Diego office in a full-time leadership role, designed to relocate to Australia. This is an exceptional opportunity for a licensed architect with NSQEP credentials to advance your career in a senior capacity while expanding your experience internationally.
About the Role
As Associate Director of Architecture, you will provide strategic direction and technical leadership across architecture projects, serving as both a design principal and a bridge between senior leadership and project delivery teams. This position combines hands-on expertise with mentorship of junior architects and coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
What You'll Do
- Lead the architectural design direction and quality standards on major infrastructure and development projects
- Mentor and develop architecture professionals within your team
- Collaborate with engineering, planning, and sustainability specialists to integrate solutions across disciplines
- Prepare and present design proposals, feasibility analyses, and technical recommendations to clients and stakeholders
- Ensure all projects meet regulatory codes, environmental standards, and client objectives
- Support business development through industry leadership and client relationship management
What We're Looking For
- Current NSQEP registration or eligibility to register
- Professional architecture license in the United States or relevant jurisdiction
- 7+ years of professional architecture experience with demonstrated leadership
- Proficiency in BIM platforms and modern design software
- Strong communication and presentation skills for client and team engagement
- Commitment to sustainable design and infrastructure excellence
- Willingness to relocate to Australia
