About the Role
AECOM is a leader in subsurface utility engineering and private utility locating services, serving engineering firms, environmental consultants, utility companies, surveyors, and construction organizations across the region. As a SUE Field Supervisor, you'll oversee on-site operations with a field-focused schedule: approximately 80% time in the field and 20% in the office.
What You'll Do
- Supervise and coordinate field teams conducting subsurface utility locating and SUE investigations
- Ensure all field operations meet safety standards, technical specifications, and project timelines
- Direct utility marking, locating, and identification activities using industry-standard equipment and techniques
- Manage data collection, documentation, and quality assurance in the field
- Communicate project progress and findings to clients, project managers, and internal teams
- Maintain equipment and conduct routine inspections to ensure operational readiness
- Train and mentor field staff on procedures, safety protocols, and best practices
- Support site coordination and respond to client needs in real time
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience supervising field operations in utility locating, subsurface engineering, or similar infrastructure work
- Strong knowledge of SUE practices, utility marking standards, and private locating methods
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams, prioritize tasks, and maintain high safety standards
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the Columbia, Richland County area
- Relevant field safety certifications a plus (OSHA, utility locating, or related credentials)
