Google is seeking a Regulatory and Litigation Counsel focused on Content for its San Francisco office. In this full-time, in-person role, you'll provide strategic legal counsel on complex regulatory and litigation matters affecting Google's content platforms and operations in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
About the Role
As Regulatory and Litigation Counsel, Content at Google's San Francisco headquarters, you'll be responsible for managing legal strategy, regulatory compliance, and litigation matters related to content governance. You'll work closely with product, policy, trust and safety, and business teams to navigate complex legal landscapes and protect Google's interests while maintaining user trust and platform integrity.
What You'll Do
- Develop and execute legal strategies for content-related regulatory matters and litigation
- Advise on compliance with federal, state, and international laws governing online platforms and content moderation
- Manage active litigation matters involving content policy disputes and platform governance issues
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify legal risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Prepare comprehensive legal analyses, memoranda, and briefings for leadership and external stakeholders
- Represent Google in regulatory inquiries, hearings, and proceedings related to content matters
What We're Looking For
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree or equivalent legal qualification
- Licensed to practice law in California or eligible to obtain admission
- 5 or more years of professional legal experience in regulatory affairs, litigation, or content policy
- Expertise in laws affecting online platforms, content liability, free speech, and data privacy
- Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills with ability to distill complex legal issues
- Strong strategic thinking and sound judgment in managing high-stakes legal matters
- Experience collaborating with diverse teams in complex, rapidly evolving environments
