About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential defense technology client seeking a Quality Inspector for their Sydney, Australia facility. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an advanced manufacturing environment, ensuring the delivery of reliable products that meet critical mission requirements. You'll collaborate with manufacturing teams, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders to maintain the highest quality standards throughout the production lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Perform incoming inspection, in-process inspection, and end-of-line inspection in a modern manufacturing environment
- Support Material Review Board processes and raise non-conformance tickets for triage
- Develop and implement quality assurance policies and procedures in collaboration with product quality and manufacturing engineers
- Identify and propose continuous improvement projects for productivity gains and quality enhancements
- Support calibration processes for test equipment, jigs, and fixtures; coordinate calibration schedules
- Participate in internal and external audits on processes and procedures
- Investigate and troubleshoot product and production issues, implementing corrective actions
- Support product traceability and ensure compliance with quality management standards
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with calibrated equipment including calipers, micrometers, CMM, scanning equipment, torque tools, and multimeters
- Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wire diagrams, work instructions, and model-based definition (MBD) drawings
- Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), including understanding of dimension and tolerancing principles
- Experience inspecting CNC machined parts, fabricated weldments, and mechanical assemblies
- Experience inspecting electrical and electronic components including PCBs and wire harnesses
- Prior work in a facility operating under AS9100, ISO9001, or similar quality management system standards
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and suppliers
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical or Associates degree in quality, mechanical, aerospace engineering, or related field
- IPC-A-610 or IPC-A-620 Certification
- Experience with manufacturing systems such as Jira, MES, ERP, Teamcenter, or CAD software
- Background in auditing processes and procedures within manufacturing environments
- Detail-oriented self-starter with minimal oversight required and strong communication skills across diverse teams
- Knowledge of First Article Inspection requirements and processes
- Familiarity with maritime vessel requirements
- Experience validating and testing assemblies and their components
