Project Cost Accountant – Project Controls – Energy Projects

Turner & Townsend seeks a Project Cost Accountant – Project Controls – Energy Projects for a full-time remote role based in Liverpool, England, GB. You'll take the lead on cost management and financial controls across significant energy sector initiatives, working flexibly to support complex, high-value projects from mobilisation through completion.

Your Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse project expenditure, tracking costs against approved budgets and contractual commitments
• Prepare detailed cost reports and forecasts for project leadership and key stakeholders
• Perform variance analysis to identify cost trends, emerging risks, and control opportunities
• Maintain cost control documentation and cost tracking systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Collaborate with project teams, finance, and procurement to resolve cost queries and support ongoing budget management
• Support contract administration activities related to project costs and payment processing
• Assist in developing cost estimates and budgets for new project phases
• Contribute to continuous improvement of cost management processes and reporting frameworks

Qualifications

• Professional accounting qualification or demonstrable experience in project finance and controls
• Proven experience in project cost management, ideally within energy, infrastructure, or construction sectors
• Strong understanding of project controls principles and cost accounting methodologies
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with cost accounting or project management systems
• Excellent analytical abilities, clear communication skills, and meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
