Position Summary

As Project Architect for K-12 schools, you will oversee architectural initiatives from initial concept through project delivery, partnering closely with school administrators, district leadership, educators, and construction teams. Your technical vision and strategic direction will result in facilities designed to support modern K-12 educational environments. This role demands both design excellence and practical project management acumen in a public-sector education context.

Your Responsibilities

• Direct the architectural design and planning of K-12 school building projects, including new construction, renovations, and facility expansions
• Manage stakeholder engagement with school boards, district administrators, and community members throughout the design and approval process
• Ensure projects meet educational standards, building codes, safety requirements, and public funding guidelines
• Coordinate with engineering, construction, and specialized consultants to deliver projects on time and on budget
• Lead design reviews, value engineering, and problem-solving to optimize facility functionality and learning environments
• Oversee compliance with environmental, accessibility, and sustainability regulations applicable to Connecticut public schools

What We're Looking For

• Professional architect license (AIA member or equivalent preferred) with proven experience designing K-12 educational facilities
• Demonstrated expertise managing complex projects from programming through construction administration
• Strong understanding of public school facility needs, educational best practices, and age-appropriate learning space design
• Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills across diverse teams and stakeholder groups
