Product Platform Development Engineer

Continental is recruiting a Product Platform Development Engineer for a full-time, remote role based from our Szeged, HU office. This is an opportunity to design and build scalable platform infrastructure that powers Continental's product ecosystem.

What This Role Involves

As a Product Platform Development Engineer at Continental, you'll architect and develop core platform services that enable teams across the organisation to build, deploy, and scale products effectively. You'll take ownership of critical infrastructure components, ensuring reliability, performance, and security across Continental's platform ecosystem. This role combines technical depth in systems design with cross-functional collaboration to shape how products are built and delivered.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable platform services and APIs that support product development
• Build robust, maintainable code whilst maintaining high standards for testing and documentation
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and engineering teams to define platform requirements and roadmaps
• Investigate and resolve platform performance issues, bottlenecks, and reliability concerns
• Contribute to platform architecture decisions and technical strategy discussions
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior engineers on platform best practices

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in backend development and systems programming (e.g., Java, Python, Go, C++, or Rust)
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure
• Experience designing and building scalable platform services or internal tools
• Ability to write clean, well-tested code and think about system-wide implications
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills for complex technical challenges
• Excellent communication and collaboration with engineers and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with containerisation, microservices, or infrastructure-as-code is a plus
