Key Responsibilities

• Monitor gauges, control panels, and system indicators to track steam, water, air, and other utility flows in real time
• Adjust valves, pumps, compressors, and related equipment to maintain target pressures, temperatures, and flow rates
• Conduct regular walk-through inspections of utility lines, tanks, and mechanical assets, noting any leaks, vibration, or wear
• Collect samples, log operating data, and prepare concise shift reports that document status and any needed actions
• Perform basic preventive tasks such as cleaning strainers, lubricating parts, and resetting trips under established procedures
• Respond promptly to alarms or process upsets by following lockout protocols and coordinating with fellow operators
• Support equipment startups, shutdowns, and isolation steps while consistently applying plant safety and environmental rules

Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent foundational education
• Prior hands-on experience operating utility or process support equipment in an industrial environment
• Solid understanding of pumps, valves, boilers, cooling towers, and basic instrumentation
• Ability to read simple P&IDs, follow written procedures, and record accurate logbook entries
• Strong situational awareness and commitment to lockout/tagout and personal protective equipment standards
• Mechanical aptitude plus the physical ability to climb stairs, stand for extended periods, and work around operating machinery
• Clear verbal and written communication skills for effective shift handovers and team coordination
