Preschool Assistant Teacher – Towson

Join The Y of Central Maryland as a Preschool Assistant Teacher at our Towson location in Eudowood, Baltimore County. We're seeking a dedicated, nurturing professional to support our early childhood program and help shape the futures of the young learners in our community.

About the Role

As a Preschool Assistant Teacher with The Y of Central Maryland, you'll work alongside our lead teachers to create an enriching, safe, and joyful environment for preschool-aged children. This is a full-time position in our Towson preschool program, where you'll contribute to the social, emotional, and educational development of children during their critical early years.

What You'll Do

• Support lead teachers in implementing age-appropriate learning activities and classroom lessons
• Supervise children during play, meals, transitions, and outdoor activities
• Assist with basic child care tasks and maintain a clean, safe learning environment
• Help prepare classroom materials and manage classroom setup and cleanup
• Build positive relationships with children and their families
• Observe and document child behaviors and developmental milestones as directed
• Communicate daily updates with families about their child's activities and progress
• Follow lesson plans and Y values-centered curriculum guidelines

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Genuine passion for working with preschool-age children
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to classroom needs
• CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification
• Ability to pass a background check
