About the Role
As a Systems Engineer at our Topeka, Kansas location, you'll play a key part in the daily operations of storage infrastructure that powers virtual machines, database systems, and enterprise file services in a secure government setting. You'll work alongside experienced engineering teams to keep our storage ecosystem stable, performant, and compliant. This is a full-time position focused on hands-on technical work and continuous system improvement.
What You'll Do
- Provision and configure storage resources on SAN and NAS platforms to support organizational workloads
- Monitor system health and performance across storage infrastructure; respond to alerts and anomalies
- Troubleshoot storage-related issues affecting virtual environments, databases, and file services
- Conduct routine capacity analysis and recommend optimization strategies
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and asset records for audit and compliance purposes
- Collaborate with senior storage engineers and other IT teams to implement infrastructure improvements
What We're Looking For
- Technical foundation in storage systems administration, SAN/NAS technologies, or enterprise infrastructure
- Experience or strong familiarity with virtual machine environments and database storage requirements
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues independently
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in documentation, configuration tracking, and compliance protocols
- Ability to work effectively in a team and take direction from experienced engineers
- Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance, or eligibility to obtain one
