Public Sector and Redevelopment Attorney

Mcmanimon Scotland & Baumann is seeking a Public Sector and Redevelopment Attorney to join its Roseland, Essex County team on a full‑time basis.

About the Role

This position focuses on providing legal counsel to municipal entities and private developers on matters that shape community growth, including redevelopment initiatives, public contracts, and financing mechanisms. The attorney will work closely with government officials, agencies, and stakeholders to navigate complex regulatory environments and advance projects that serve the public interest.

What You'll Do

• Advise municipalities and public agencies on redevelopment planning, land use approvals, and related regulatory compliance.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts for public works, procurement, and development agreements.
• Assist clients with affordable housing programs, public‑private partnerships, and tax‑increment financing structures.
• Provide guidance on public finance matters, including bond issuances, grant administration, and fiscal compliance.
• Represent clients in administrative hearings, council meetings, and negotiations with state and local authorities.
• Stay current on evolving legislation and case law affecting municipal governance and redevelopment practice.

What We're Looking For

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and active admission to the New Jersey Bar.
• Minimum of three years of experience advising public sector clients or working on redevelopment projects.
• Strong background in municipal law, public contracting, procurement, or land use regulation.
• Excellent analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
• Commitment to public service and interest in contributing to community revitalization efforts.
