Build the skills for this role

Focus areas for this title: cloud platforms, containers/orchestration, infrastructure as code, observability, secure networking, and automation. Practice designing for multi-tenant or multi-team use, cost and reliability tradeoffs, and clear runbooks. No certification list or costs were provided in the source data.

Prepare system-design stories (platforms, pipelines, failure modes), deep dives on past infrastructure decisions, and practical debugging scenarios. Be ready to discuss collaboration with application teams, prioritization under limited capacity, and how you communicate risk remotely.

Strong fit if you already ship and operate platforms for other engineers, thrive in remote U.S. async work, and want senior ownership rather than a pure feature-app role. Thin company and market data here means culture and comp should be validated directly with the employer.
