Part-Time Safety Support Associate – Best Western (JR 5554)

PATH (People Assisting the Homeless) is hiring a Part-Time Safety Support Associate to join our Interim Housing team at our Best Western facility in Long Beach, California. This position offers weekend shifts and the opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness across Los Angeles County.

About the Role

As a Safety Support Associate, you'll be the foundation of a secure, welcoming interim housing environment. Working alongside case managers and support staff, you'll combine attentive observation with compassionate engagement to help residents maintain safety and stability as they progress toward permanent housing.

What You'll Do

• Monitor interim housing facilities and grounds through regular patrols, identifying and reporting maintenance concerns or safety issues
• Build constructive relationships with program participants to encourage their active participation in maintaining a safe community
• Employ verbal de-escalation and non-violent crisis intervention techniques to respond to urgent situations with calm professionalism
• Collaborate with on-site case managers and contracted security partners to coordinate safety protocols and emergency responses
• Document incidents and observations through clear, accurate written reports
• Participate in team meetings to contribute insights on operational safety and emerging participant needs

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Valid work authorization in the United States
• Willingness to obtain or current CPR and First Aid certification
• Ability to pass a background screening, tuberculosis test, and drug screening

Preferred:

• One year of professional experience working with vulnerable populations, security operations, or crisis de-escalation
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Demonstrated ability to stay calm and think clearly under pressure
• Commitment to ethical conduct and professional boundaries
• Initiative and willingness to identify creative solutions to operational challenges

Schedule and Compensation

This is a non-exempt, part-time position based in Long Beach with two shift options available: Saturday–Sunday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., or Saturday–Sunday, 3:30 p.m.–11:00 p.m. Compensation ranges from $21.71 to $26.36 per hour based on relevant experience.
