The State of Florida Department of Corrections is recruiting a full-time OPS Correctional Officer to help maintain safe, secure correctional facilities across our statewide system. About the Role

As an OPS Correctional Officer with the State of Florida, you'll play a critical role in upholding security, order, and rehabilitation within Florida's correctional facilities. This statewide position may be assigned to any DOC facility based on operational needs and agency priorities. You'll work within a structured environment where vigilance, professionalism, and sound judgment are essential every single day.

What You'll Do

  • Monitor and supervise incarcerated individuals in housing units, work areas, and during movement throughout facilities
  • Conduct regular rounds, inspections, and counts to ensure security compliance and inmate accountability
  • Respond to incidents, emergencies, and rule violations with appropriate documentation and reporting
  • Maintain facility security by enforcing rules, regulations, and operational procedures
  • Communicate effectively with inmates, colleagues, and supervisors to manage daily operations
  • Participate in professional development, training, and mandatory continuing education

What We're Looking For

  • Valid Florida driver's license or ability to obtain one
  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent)
  • Ability to meet background investigation and security clearance requirements
